Route development:
As a trade manager I had to establish OCL's market share in a conference dominated European and East African market. We established various European markets with LCL operations.
I was involved in handling and establishing procedures for shipments to Delhi ICD in the year 1983.

Responsibility:
Sales, Documentation, CFS & Port operations.
This was a period when containerization was newly introduced in India hence we had to rework on all processes which were followed during break-bulk era. There were no NVOCCs and consolidators. Shipping lines were accepting LCL and consolidation was responsibility of shipping lines.

Responsibility:
Coordination between line managers and documentation & port operations staff.
Market research for containerized shipments.
This was the period when there were no computers, no emails, no copiers. We had to work with very few mechanical calculators and typewriters. However it was a great learning experience.

Responsibility:
Ship husbanding activities such as coordination with stevedores, shippers, entry inward / outward clearance for ships, crew change, berthing arrangements. In other words do everything required from the time ship arrives in the port till her departure.
